SUBJECT:    2018 DIVISION ENHANCEMENT TRAINING-WORKSHOP IN JOURNALISM FOR SCHOOL PAPER ADVISERS

1.     In reference to Regional Memorandum No. 410, s.2018 re Conduct of the Division-Based Campus Journalism Trainings and in support to RA 7079, the Office through the Curriculum Implementation Division (CID) announces the 2018 Division Enhancement Training-Workshop in Journalism for School Paper Advisers with the 2019 NSPC theme “Fostering 21st Century Skills an Character-Based Education through Campus Journalism” on September 20-22 2018 at the Samar GSP Council Headquarters, Catbalogan City.

2. The objectives of the training workshop are:

a. to capacitate and enhance further the new and the seasoned school paper
     advisers to become effective campus advisers;

b. to update the knowledge and skills of SPAs on the latest trends in the eight (8)
      individual events and group contests in Campus Journalism;

c. to enhance the journalistic competence of SPAs through healthy and friendly
     competitions; and

d. to come up with the identified pool of identified SPAs who excel in specific

journalism genre and who will serve the Division as mentors/ resource persons.

3. Participating schools may send four (4) School Paper Advisers/SPAs – two (2) for English and two (2) for Filipino for big schools, while small schools may send one or two SPAs who will train their campus writers for the eight (8) individual events, and two (2) group events.

4. Participants are advised to bing their own laptops, pocket wifi/s, extension wires, and cameras, for desktop/collaborative writing and photojournalism.

5. A registration fee of PhP 900.00 shall be collected from each participant to cover the expenses for the meals (3 lunch) and 6 snacks for three days, venue, materials, and other incidental expenses. Traveling/transportation and other related expenses incurred by the participants during the activity shall be charged.

6. Teacher-participants are entitled to a one-day service credit as per submission of the required documents that vouch their participation in the 2018 Division Press Conference.

7. Immediate dissemination of and compliance to this Memorandum are highly desired.
