SUBJECT:       District/School-Based Youth for Environment in Schools Organization (YES-O)

Camp 2018

DATE:             July 11, 2018

1         This Division, through the Curriculum Implementation Division, announces the

conduct of the District/School-Based Youth for Environment in Schools Organization

(YES-O) Camp 2018 on July 25-27, 2018.

2.        This year’s theme “Tayo ang Kalikasan: Protektahan, Alagaan, Mahalin at

Pagyamanin”.

3.        The activity seeks to achieve the following objectives:

a.   Strengthen the implementation of the Youth for Environment in Schools

Organization    (YES-O) Program pursuant to DepEd Order No.             52, s.                                       2011

(Strengthening Environmental Education in Public and Private Schools) and DepEd

Order No. 93, s. 2011   (Mandated Programs, Projects and Activities Various Forms

and Targets Pertinent to the Youth for Environment in Schools Programs).

b.   Inculcate among students the citical role of environmental protection in

preventing and coping with the effects of climate change such as typhoons,

floods, earthquakes, and droughts;

c.   Develop student’s awareness on the state of the environment, focusing on

significant issues and concerns.

d.   Encourage students’ active participation and determine concrete action in the

protection, preservation and rehabilitation of the environment.

e.   Instill environmental values in every student to motivate actual involvement in

worthwhile programs, projects and activities for the environment.

4.         The participants to this activity are Science teachers, PSYSC Advisers, Science and

YES-O Coordinators, students, officers and members of PSYSC, Science Club and YES-O. Officers and members may come from Grades 3 to Grade 12.

5.         Participation and any award received in this Camp shall be credited to the co-

curicular points of pupils/students for school year 2018-2019.

6.           Suggested activities/contests duing the camp includes plenary sessions and

simultaneous contests such as Jingle for the Environment, YES-O Exhibit,
Interpretative Dance, Enviro Quiz, Kabataan: Bayani ng Kalikasan, YES-O Rap, Recycling Showcase, Impromto Dayalogo, Amazing Race, On-the-Spot Poster
Making, Enviro Photo Treebute, and YES-O Spotlight. (See attached enclosures). All the activities conducted shall be monitored by the Division Science Supervisor
during the inclusive dates.

7.            It is expected that an activity completion report be submitted a week after the

conduct of the said activity.

8.        All expenses relative to the conduct of this activity shall be charged to

PSYSC/Science/YES-O local/School MOOE and other sources of funds subject to the usual accounting and auditing rules and regulations.

9.         Enclosed are the registration form, suggested schedule of activities, rules,

mechanics and criteria for the contest.

10.      Immediate and wide dissemination of the content of this Memorandum to all

concerned is desired.

CONTEST MECHANICS, GUIDELINES AND CRITERIA

JINGLE FOR THE ENVIRONMENT

To showcase the student’s care and love for the environment through their creative

5. Minimal props which is mostly made up of recycled materials and available resources.

6. If there are numerous entries, an elimination round shall be done. (Execution is 3minutes only)

7. Performance is 3-5 minutes only. One (1) point deduction will be made for every 30 seconds exceeded.

8. Any violation above the mentioned rules will be automatically disqualified.

9. The judge’s decision is final and irrevocable.

10. Cleanliness should be observed after the performance. One (1) point deduction for violation of the said rule.

YES-O EXHIBIT

Objective            To showcase the school’s YES-O accomplishments of the mandated programs and

projects.

Rules and            1. All accomplished projects and programs should be anchored on the thrusts and

2. The current showcased accomplishments should cover from January to December of the current year.

3. Supporting documents include certificates, pictures, designation, MOA and others.

4. The exhibit should be placed in a 4×8 tarpaulin.

5. Tarpaulins will be hanged on designated areas.

6. One (1) point deduction will be made for every 30 second exceeded.

7. Any violation of the above mentioned rules will be automatically disqualified,

8. Cleanliness should be observed after the performance, One (1) point deduction for violation of the said rule.

5. The judge’s decision is final and irrevocable.

6. Attire should be decent.

ENVIRO QUIZ

Rules and                  1. There shall be three main rounds: EASY, AVERAGE and DIFFICULT.

Guidelines                 2. Five questions will be given for every round observing the following points: Easy – 1 point,

Average – 2 points. Difficult – 3 points, Clincher- 3 points

3. In case of tie after the difficult round, a clincher round will be given to determine the top 3

winners observing the sudden death system.
