CONDUCT OF QUARTERLY NATIONWIDE SIMULTANEOUS EARTHQUAKE DRILL FOR SY 2018

1.        Relative to National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council         (NDRRMC)

Memorandum NO. 17, s. 2018, all DepEd Offices and schools shall participate in the conduct of the CY 2018 First Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drills (NSED). The CY 2018 First Quarter NSED shall be on February 15, 2018 to all elementary and secondary schools, however due to Typhoon Basyang the activity will be rescheduled on February 19,2018 with the following objectives:

a. To evaluate the readiness and awareness of learners and DepEd personnel for earthquakes;
        and,

b. To evaluate the coordination and communication mechanisms during evacuation procedure
        and response.

School Heads and Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) Coordinators shall follow the quarterly scheduled of conduct and the submission of reports to the Division DRRM Coordinator on the schedule provided below and encouraged to coordinate with the City DRRM Office or other related agencies for the technical assistance during the conduct of the drill.

3.     School Heads and DRRM Coordinators are encouraged to observe proper ways and safety of

learners and personnel participated in the activity.

4.     Immediate dissemination of and strict compliance to this Division Memorandum is highly

directed.
