TERTIARY SCHOOLS AS WELL AS ALL GOVERNMENT OFFICES EXCEPT THOSE INVOLVED IN RELIEF AND RESCUE OPERATIONS STARTING TUESDAY, FEBRUARY

In connection with the above-captioned matter, enclosed hereto is the Executive Order No. 06, S. 2018 from the Office of the the City Mayor, this city, suspension of Public & Private, Elementary & Secondary Schools as well as Government Offices, contents of which is self explanatory.

EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 06 series of 2018

SUSPENDING CLASSES IN ALL PUBLIC AND PRIVATE ELEMENTARY, SECONDARY AND
       TERTIARY SCHOOLS AS WELL AS ALL GOVERNMENT OFFICES EXCEPT THOSE

IVOLVED IN RELIEF AND RESCUE OPERATIONS STARTING TUESDAY FEBRUARY 13,

2018 UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE BY THIS OFFICE

WHEREAS, it is a declared policy of the State to uphold the people’s constitutional rights to life, health, safety and property and to promote the general welfare of Its people at all times, especially during disasters and calamities;

WHEREAS, Executive Order No. 66, series of 2012 issued by the President of the Philippines prescribes the rules on localized cancellation or suspension of classes due to typhoons, flooding, other weather disturbances, and calamities;

WHEREAS, as per weather update today from the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), February 13, 2018, 4 AM, Tropical Storm Basyang was estimated based on all available data at 175 km East of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur and Maximum sustained winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kpljt and is moving West Northwest at 25 kph. As of this writing, Samar is under Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 1,

WHEREAS, in accordance with the aforementioned order to ensure the safety of the public and (avoid any further danger to lives and property, the City Government of
Catbalogan, through the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (LDRRMC) is hereby recommending the suspension of classes in all public and private elementary, secondary and tertiary schools as well as government offices starting February 13, 2018 until further notice.

NOW, THEREFORE, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law as the City Mayor of Catbalogan, do hereby order the following

1.               Suspend classes in all public and private elementary, secondary and tertiary

schools, effective immediately and enjoin all schools, private and public to exert all effort to widely disseminate or properly implement this order taking into consideration the safety of all pupils and students;

2.               Suspend government offices except those involved in relief and rescue

operations, also effective immediately, securing first the respective offices including all facilities, equipment, and documents from the effects of the aforesaid calamity;

3.               This order shall be in effect until further notice on its revocation by this office.

This order shall take effect immediately.
