SUBJECT: “STRATEGIZED ACADEMIC INTERVENTION” DATE:   January 15, 2018

1.     It has been an observation that athletes tend to lag behind their lessons when they

undergo concentration trainings and actual competitions. Likewise, the pupils/students lose considerable contact hours when left behind by coaches, officiating officials, tournament managers and committee members.

2.   To address the abovementioned concerns, the Academic Contingency Committee is

created. This committee shall be primarily responsible in organizing and arranging make¬ up classes for the athletes during the concentration training and monitoring the implementation of emergency plans for the classes left by coaches, officiating officials, tournament managers and committee members. The committee shall be composed by the following:

3.   The committee shall organize a maximum of twenty (20) athletes per class and identify

the teachers who will be handling the classes.

4.   The classes will be recited for 2 hours every 6:00-8:00 P.M. in the billeting school of the

athletes where they will be given modular lessons.

5.   The school where the athletes come from shall be responsible in the reproduction and

provision of the modules to be used in the make-up classes chargeable against the respective MOOE funds.

6.   The teachers who will be handling the classes will be entitled to service credits as per

DepEd Order No. 53, s. 2003 titled “Updated Guidelines on the Grant of Vacation Service Credits”, upon submission of Form 48 and Narrative Accomplishment Report.

7.   The make-up classes will be recited at Samar National School.

8. School Heads are also enjoined to submit Contingency Plans for the classes that will be
      left by the coaches, officiating officials, tournament managers and committee members
      on or before January 16, 2018 to their respective District Supervisors who shall compile
      and submit the same to the CID Chief, this Division.
