1st 2018 DIVISION QUIZ BEE AND SIDAY COMPETITION

1. In support to Regional Memorandum #369 s 2018 re: Implementation of
Localization and Contextualization on Learning Resources, this office through the Curriculum Implementation Division(CIDJ will conduct the “1st 2018 DIVISION QUIZ BEE AND SIDAY COMPETITION” with the theme ”Promoting Culture and Preserving Environment” (Pagpadukwag han Kultura Talingohaon, Pagpreserbar han Kalibongan Ipadayun) on September 7, 2018 at Guinsorongan National High School.
2. The objective of this activity are as follows:
a. Create awareness and appreciation among the students on the preservation of culture and environmental protection.
b. Develop local pride and identity for the local people.
c. To foster the spirit of healthy competition among the youth in a
friendly quiz game that exposes them to local cultural, political, economic and social information.
3. Participants to this competition are all bona fide students who are
the 1st place winners at the District Level contest for the Elementary, and Is*
place winners of the Secondary including pivate schools.
4. All District/and Secondary School Araling Panlipunan Coordinators (public
and private) through the Public Schools
District Supervisors are requested

to submit three (3) questions each for Easy,
Average and Difficult Questions in soft copy on or before September 3,2018 via
email or messenger.

The venue
for the Elementary Level shall be at Guinsorongan Central
Elementary School while for the Secondary
Level the venue shall be at
Guinsorongan National High School. All
participating schools shall submit
their official entry using the attached
enclosure. Attn: Edgar U. Dolorzo, EPS1

However, guidelines for the Quiz Bee and “Siday” Contests are attached through an enclosure.
The formulation of test questions and review materials for the elementary and secondary levels shall be based on the Division Local Heritage Theme Matrix(DLHTM).
A
registration of Four Hundred Pesos (Php400.00) shall be charged to each participant including the coaches to defray expenses for
One (1) lunch and Two (2) snacks and other miscellaneous
expenses relative to the conduct of the
activity. Transportation expenses of the participants and coaches
related to this activity are chargeable to
School MOOE funds subject to the usual
auditing rules and regulations.
Immediate dissemination and compliance of this Memorandum
is desire.

GUIDELINES FOR 1st 2018 DIVISION QUIZ BEE AND SIDAY COMPETITION
A. Quiz Bee
I. Event Rules and Mechanics
a. The formulation of test questions at the elementary and secondary levels shall be based on
the Division Local Heritage Theme Matrix (DLHTM)
b. Each of the participating Districts/Secondary Schools through the Araling Panlipunan
Coordinators and District Supervisors shall submit Three (3) Questions each for Easy,
Average and Difficult Questions in soft copy or through messenger or email to MR. EDGAR U. DOLORZO, EPS1 Araling Panlipunan with contact number 09268032897/09472231225 and email ad at edgar.dolorzo@deped.gov .ph
c. Division Local Heritage Theme Matrix (DLHTM) will serve as the review mateials for the
Quiz which will be provided by the Division Supervisor in Araling Panlipunan. (Please send you respective email addresses or have it in a flash drive]
d. During the quiz, participants will be provided with whiteboard, markers and erasers.
e. English or Filipino will be used as the official language in the conduct of the quiz.
f. Participants will be given a total number of twenty (20) questions, of which six (6) are
“easy,” seven (7) are “average,” and seven (7) are “dificult.”
g. Points for every correct answer will be given as follows:
One (1) point shall be given to correct answer for each “easy” question. Two (2) points for each “average” question, Three (3) points for each “dificult” question
h. Participants shall be given ten (10) seconds to answer each question. For questions that
require computation, participants shall be given a maximum of thirty (30) seconds.
i. The quizmaster will only read each question twice. Countdown will start after the question
has been read the second time and the quizmaster says GO. When the quizmaster says “STOP “or “TIME IS UP.”, contestants must raise their answers to the audience and to the Board of Judges until such time that the Proctors have verified or confirmed the answer. A general reminder will be given to all. However, if the contestant still violates, his /her answer shall not be considered.
j. A participant shall be allowed to change his/her answer within the allotted time.
k. Winners will be proclaimed based on cumulative scoring.
1. In case of a tie, a clincher question drawn from the “difficult” category shall be asked until a
winner emerges.
m. In case of a protest or inquiry during the actual quiz proceedings, the following procedures
shall be observed:
• Only the contestant or the official coach of the participant is allowed to raise a
protest or inquiry before the next question is read. The protest or inquiry will be
addressed orally to the chair of the board of judges who will recognize the protest or inquiry.
• The chair will announce the decision upon
deliberation with the members of the
board of judges.

n. The decision of the Board of Judges is final.
B. SIDAY
a. The theme of the showcase is stated at paragraph 1 of the Division Memorandum.
b. The order of the presentation shall be
determined through draw lots. This will be
done during the registration.
c. The ‘SIDAY” must be an original composition highlighting the theme. Lyrics must be
in Waray-Waray
d. Performance must be done in in 8-10 stanzas for elementary and 10-15 stanzas for
secondary.
