VETERANS
WEEK CELEBRATION
To: Education Program Supervisors

Elementary and Secondary School Heads (public & private) All others concerned
1. Pursuant to Executive Order no. 203, s 1987, DepEd Memorandum No. 042 s 2018
and Regional Advisory No. 069, this office announces the celebration of the 7&hArawng Kagiingan, and Philippine Veterans Week from April 5 to 11 of Every Year as Philippine Veterans Week.
2. The celebration aims to instill in the minds and hearts of the Filipino
people especially the youth that the freedom the Filipinos enjoy today was nourished by the blood and sacrifices of the veteran forefathers.
3. To make this year’s celebration more meaningful, all schools are encouraged to
discuss the significance of the Araw ng Kagitingan and Philippine Veterans Week every Monday from March 5 to April 2, 2018 during the flag raising ceremony. Likewise, schools are enjoined to conduct the following:
a. Integrate activities into related subjects:
(i) Araling Panlipunan (ii)Values Education;
(iii)Music, Arts,
Physical Education and Health (MAPEH); (iv) Filipino and (v) English
during class discussions to
highlight the courage and patriotism of the veterans;
b. Inter-school campus essay writing, drawing,
storytelling, debate and oratorical
contests;
c. Symposium or round table discussion to
raise awareness on the event, and learn the
values, nationalism,
patriotism and love of country which were exhibited by the
veterans during the
trying periods of this country;
d. Simple campus program to be participated in
by learners and to be spearheaded by
the Araling Panlipunan Department;
and

putting up of bulletin board with in the campus and displaying
informative materials
concerning the commemorative events.
4. The Araling Panlipunan Department through the district/school coordinators shall
submit a report/documentation on the activities undertaken by the schools relative to the said celebration addressed to the Schools Division Superintendent, Division of Catbalogan City, Attn: MR. EDGAR U. DOLORZO,EPS-AP, division coordinator on or before April 12, 2018 at the email address: edgar.dolorzo@deped.gov.ph.
5. All expenses incurred relative to the conduct of the activities during the
celebration shall be charged to local funds/division/school Parent-Teacher Association, School Board Funds and other sources subject to the usual accounting and auditing rules and regulations.
6. Immediate and wide dissemination of and strict compliance with this
memorandum is desired.
