SUBJECT: WORLD TOILET DAY CELEBRATION 2018
DATE: November 14,2018
1. Relative to DepEd Order No. 10, s. 2016 “Policy and Guidelines for the Comprehensive Water, Sanitation and Hygiene in Schools (WinS) Program”. This office enjoined to celebrate the World Toilet Day Celebration on November 19,2018. This is a World Advocacy day dedicated to increase awareness on the importance of having and using the toilet properly. The theme for this year’s celebration is “When Nature Calls”.
2. The activity aims to enhance public awareness on the importance of the proper use of toilet at home, school and community. And to inspire in building toilets and sanitation systems that work in harmony with our environment. When nature calls, we have to listen and act.
3. The Public and Private Elementary and Secondary Schools are hereby enjoined to participate and celebrate. You may invite representative from these following agencies: LGUs, DOH, INGOs, IMGOs and CSOs in your respective schools to celebrate the same.
4. Listed below are the suggested activities but not limited to:
♦ Conduct a short program preferably after the flag raising ceremony to inform the pupils/students and the community on the significance and that toilet is an integral part of Wash in Schools (WinS), share key messages particularly the critical times of handwashing after using the toilet and demonstrate the proper use of it; ♦ Hanging of streamers in strategic places within the school;

♦ Mobilization of school health personnel to
supplement and complement classroom
health
instruction on the proper use of toilet;
♦ Coordinate with other government agencies,
non-government organizations, and other
private
sectors in the conduct of advocacy activities within the schools and
communities; ♦ Conduct of activities e.g. singing, conduct
symposia, mural paintings whereby children
will commit to use properly the
toilet every day, and poster making contest.
5. Public School District Supervisors of the ten (10) districts shall submit a District Consolidated Accomplishments Report relative to the activities conducted by the schools on or before November 29,2018. Attention: Sandra C. Galitan, Division Nurse.
6. Expenses incurred relative to the conduct of this activity shall be charged against the respective school MOOE fund subject to the usual accounting and auditing rules and regulations.
7. Immediate dissemination and compliance of this memorandum
is earnestly desired.
