GIRL SCOUTS OF THE PHILIPPINES – SAMAR COUNCIL 41st NATIONAL CAMP

1.     The Samar GS Council will participate in the 41st NATIONAL CAMP on December 1 – 6, 2018 at the Gabriela Silang Girl Scout Camp, Banaoang, Bantay, llocos Sur with the thems “BE PREPARED: Girl Scouts in Action”.

2.   The Campers will experience exciting different adventure-filled activities; they must be registered as of December 30, 2018 and must be physically fit and alert.

3.     Participants of this camp are the Public and Private Secondary Students from:

4.   The registration fee per delegate is Ten Thousand Two Hundred Fifty Pesos (P10,250.00) per camper inclusive program materials, camp souvenirs, group insurance and transportation including offsite activities.

5.     The registration fee, transportation and other expenses incurred by the participants relative to the conduct of this activity shall be chargeable against the MOOE/SEF/SPED/SMF/local funds of each school subject to the usual accounting and auditing rules and regulations.

6.     For the things to bring and other details, refer to the hereto attached documents.

7.     Immediate and wide dissemination of this memorandum is earnestly desired.

We are pleased to announce that the 41st GSP National Camp to be hosted by the Northern Luzon Region and llocos Sur Council will be held on December 1 – 6, 2018 at Gabriela Silang Girl Scout Camp, Banaoang, Bantay, llocos Sur. The theme is “BE PREPARED: Girl Scouts in Action”.

PARTICIPANTS

1 patrol (8 Senior/Cadet Girl Scouts) per Council PAYMENT OF REGISTRATION FEES OF CAMPERS |

a. The camp fee is Ten Thousand Two Hundred Fifty Pesos (P10,250.00) per camper inclusive of food, program materials, camp souvenirs, group insurance and transportation during offsite activities.

QUALIFICATIONS OF PARTICIPANTS

1.    Must be a registered Senior/Cadet Girl Scout as of December 2018.

2.    Must be physically fit and alert.

3.    Must have earned at least one badge each under the 8-Point Challenge.

4.     Must have attended a troop/patrol/council/regional camp prior to this encampment.

5.    Must be a Patrol Leader’s Camp Permit Course Certificate Holder or has attended the Patrol Leader’s Camp Permit Course.

TRAVEL

Campers are expected to be in the Council Hqs. on or before noontime of November 28, 2018, Wednesday for the travel; and return trip will be on December 8, 2018, Saturday.

Please note that campers will be awarded the badges and certificates only upon successful completion of the camp.

TRANSPORTATION

The Transportation Committee will arrange the transportation of campers from National Headquarters,

Manila on November 30, Friday, 8:00 p.m. The travel time from Manila to llocos Sur is nine (9) hours with two bus stops. Estimated time of arrival at the campsite is on December 1, Saturday at 5:00a.m.
Chartered bus from llocos Sur to Manila is on December 6, Thursday at 8:00 p.m. and will arrive at National Headquarters, Manila at around 5:00 a.m.

ARRIVAL IN CAMP

a. The campers are expected to arrive in camp on Saturday, December 1.

b. Upon arrival, the campers shall proceed to the Camp Registration Area to inform the Business Manager of their arrival.

FOOD MANAGEMENT

a. Campers are expected to prepare and cook their own meals in camp based on the proposed menu in
      the Camper’s Guide. The first meal to be cooked by the patrol in camp is dinner on December 1, and
      last meal will be breakfast on December 6.

b. There will be a Trading Post inside the camp where the campers can order and buy their marketing

needs. Procedures on how to order and purchase perishable goods/food supplies will be discussed bv the Sub-Camp Quarter Master during the orientation.

c. The Trading Post will sell packed breakfast and lunch on December 1 only.

d. A welcome lunch on December 2 will be served by the host Council to all the campers and guests.

e. Campers should bring their individual eating and cooking utensils for each patrol.

f.      Charcoal stove and charcoals will be made available for sale at the Trading Post. Each patrol will

receive a complementary pack of eco-charcoal from the National Headquarters.

g. LPG/kerosene/butane stove will not be allowed inside the camp.

GADGET WOODS

a. Gadget woods will be made available for sale at the Trading Post.

b. Campers should bring their own twines or straw for lashing.

TENTS

The host Region/Council through the help of Central Luzon and Southern Luzon Regions will lend

sleeping and fly tents for the campers of Visayas, Eastern Mindanao and Western Mindanao Regions. The Business Manager shall issue the tent upon accomplishing the borrowers form. The tents should be returned to the Business Manager on the last day after the break camp.

b.   A patrol tent (good for 8 girls) is highly suggested for a better camp lay-out.

c.     Use of dome tents will not be allowed.

THINGS TO BRING

These should be brought by the individual camper and packed in a duffle bag and a backpack/knapsack provided with luggage tags. Travel Luggage and/or Trolley Bags (Maleta) will not be allowed inside the camp. Campers are encouraged to travel light, and bring only what is needed.

CELLPHONE CHARGING

Please be informed that the electrical power supply from the camp may not be sufficient to accommodate al the charging of campers’ electronic devices. Hence, campers are advised not to bring tablets, laptops, etc. Campers will only be given two (2) charging tickets for their cellphones for the whole duration of the camp.

CHAPERONES

All official chaperones of the campers must be Senior/Cadet Troop Leaders. They are required to attend the National Troop Leaders’ Forum to maximize their time during the camp. Please refer to the separate circular about other details of this forum.

We expect to receive at the Council Headquarters the accomplished forms (see attachment) not later than November 9. 2019.

OPTIONAL TOUR

This year is a milestone year as we commemorate the 120th Birth Anniversary of our dear Founder Josefa

Llanes Escoda. Participants are encouraged to take this opportunity to visit the hometown of our Founder at Dingras, llocos Norte. This is an optional tour, and on personal expense. The Tour and Transportation
Committee will suggest an itinerary and tour cost in the next circular.

Other details of the event will be included in the succeeding circulars. Meanwhile, we suggest that participants to the event be screened and given the needed preparation during the pre-camp training.
