PARTICIPATION OF THE CATBALOGAN CITY DIVISION TO THE 2018 REGIONAL SCIENCE
                                               AND TECHNOLOGY FAIR (RSTF)

TO:      Chief Education Supervisors

Public and Private Elementary and Secondary School Heads All Others Concened

1      DepEd, Catbalogan City Division thru the Curriculum Implementation Division (CID) announces its participation to the 2018 Regional Science and Technology Fair with the theme “Science for the People: Innovation for Collective Prosperity” on November 20-22, 2018 at the RELC NEAP-RVIII, DepEd Compound, Government Center, Candahug, Palo Leyte.

2.  The activity aims to:

a.   Promote Science and Technology consciousness, and a culture of

innovation among the youth; and

b.   Identify the most creative and innovative student researchers from the

junior and senior high school, who shall represent the country in the international science research fairs.

3.   The official participants shall only be the 1st place division winners in each of the different categories of the Science Investigatory Project (SIP), from elementary, and combined junior and senior high school whose entries have been approved by the division level Scientific Review Committee (SRC). Substitutes shall not be allowed.

4.   The number of other Official Party members are as follows:

Maximum Number of Other Official Party per Division=9

•    One observer for every 5 students (1:5)

>    One observer can only be a research adviser

The specific guidelines for the conduct of RSTMF (DepEd Memorandum No. 134,

s.   2018), list of   1st place Science Investigatory Project      (SIP) division winners, and

Division Technical Working Group (TWG) are in the attached enclosures.

All members of the Regional Management Team, Division Science Supervisors, Research Advisers/Coach of the 1st Place Winners at the division level, and the Technical Working Group whose names are listed in the Regional Memorandum No. 541, s. 2018 are directed to attend a Planning Conference on October 30, 2018 at the CLMD Office, DepEd Compound, Government Center, Candahug, Palo, Leyte.

7.  To facilitate the travel of the participants to the Planning Conference, this
      Memorandum shall also serve as the Travel Order.

8. A registration fee of Seven Hundred Pesos (P700.00) only shall be collected from each participant charged to Division/Local MOOE Funds, subject to the usual accounting and auditing rules and regulations. This fee will cover expenses for the contest materials, certificates, medals and trophies, venue and equipment rental, board and lodging of the Scientific Review Committee (SRC), Board of Judges (BOJ) and the Technical Working Group (TWG).

9. Travel, food, accommodation and other incidental expenses incurred by the participants shall be charged to Local Funds or other sources, subject to the usual accounting rules and regulations.

10. The Research Advisers/Coaches are requested to submit reports using the format provided for in Enclosure No. 8 to DepEd Memorandum No. 134, s. 2018. This should be in Excel spreadsheet and should be sent to email address: carmenJim@deped.gov.ph on or before November^, 2018. Six (6) copies of the SIP manuscript shall be submitted by the Research Adviser/Coach duly endorsed by the School Principal.

11 . Immediate dissemination of and compliance with this Memorandum are desired.
